Dr Victor Hazout's background

A periodontist in Levallois-Perret, on the edge of Paris, Dr Victor Hazout devotes his practice to the gums and bone that hold the teeth: treating periodontitis, oral surgery, bone reconstruction and implants. His university training follows that same thread, from periodontology to lasers, then preventive medicine and micronutrition.

Why a practice centred on periodontology?

Periodontology treats the tissues that surround and support the teeth: gum, ligament and bone. It is the heart of Dr Hazout's work, from treating periodontitis to the maintenance that follows. Oral surgery and implant dentistry are its natural extension: when bone has been destroyed or a tooth lost, it must be rebuilt before it is replaced, then looked after.

That continuity dictates the order of his training: periodontology and surgery first, then implantology and bone reconstruction, and finally lasers and preventive medicine, which tie gum inflammation to general health. A medical, biological and preventive periodontology.

A dissertation on periodontitis and chronic inflammation

His dissertation for the university diploma (DU) in anti-ageing and preventive medicine (Université Paris-Est Créteil, 2025) addresses periodontitis and inflammaging, the chronic low-grade inflammation that comes with ageing. It considers periodontitis as a possible marker of this inflammation, reviews the tests that measure it (high-sensitivity CRP, HbA1c), and what is known of the effect of periodontal treatment on these markers.

The work separates what clinical trials have established (periodontal treatment lowers some inflammatory markers, and HbA1c in people with diabetes) from what remains a hypothesis (an effect on ageing itself). The articles on this site obey the same rule: periodontitis and general health.

Clinical approach: how does he work?

  • A full diagnosis before any treatment: conversation, clinical examination, X-rays and further tests as indicated, and a search for risk factors (smoking, diabetes, medication, medical background).
  • The least invasive treatment that answers the problem: surgery steps in only when non-surgical treatment is not enough.
  • Explanations and options: each proposal is set out, with its limits and alternatives, before a written estimate.
  • Maintenance: periodontitis can be stabilised, not cured in the sense of a return to the original state; it is then monitored, implants included.
  • Dialogue with your doctor whenever your general health calls for it (diabetes, anticoagulants, cardiovascular disease).
